The evolution of dynamic extension orthoses over 80 years. The PIPro represents the modern addition to a therapist’s options with its circumferential design for edema reduction and warmth. Removal of the raised internal sewn seam improves patient comfort over older designs and creates more uniform compression. The PIPro can also be end trimmed without unravelling and is effective even in contractures under 15 degrees where older tube splints lose force.
